I didn't mention the number of games at all. If you make a special test, where
you exclude certain things characteristic for the engines, you can't predict the
strength difference between two programs. You can make a comparison of strength,
but you wouldn't know if it had anything to do with the real strength. The lack
of opening book and learning in the test makes strength prediction useless, but
it might reveal something about the importance of ponder. The might is very,
very big, especially if there's a lot of shenanigan's going on with the testing.
BTW, I would like to see the positions rerun at least thrice with both colours,
not just once. But that's only my opinion.
