WMCCC is already scheduled and the rules have been set. Discussions here aren't going to change the rules for this event. (I hope :) I would like to offer a suggestion for a future Micro Computer Chess Event. Since there are many different hardware platforms available and many of the existing programs are optimized for a specific platform a single platform event would be too limited. Instead, I suggest that the hardware used by the chess program be limited to publicly available systems with a cost cap to keep the systems in the range of personal budgets. Only the processor, memory and external storage used during play should be covered by the cost cap. The use of multiple processors should be encouraged by this limit as it is generally cheeper to use two processors than to double the clock speed of one.
