This just landed in my mailbox. Anyone who didn't receive a copy and is interested please contact Shaun.Press@cs.anu.edu.au . This is going to be in Canberra, Australia. Note that overseas programs can now apply to enter, unlike previous years. ================================================= The Australian National University Department of Computer Science is once again hosting the National Computer Chess Championships (NC3) as part of the ANU Chess Festival. NC3 has been running in one form or another for 8 years and has been a significant event on the Australian Chess scene. Although the event awards the title of Australian Computer Chess Champion the event is open to programmers from Oceania (FIDE Zone 1.3 ie Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, PNG etc) plus overseas programmers (at the organisers discretion). The dates for this years events are: 15-16 July for competition + 17 July for a one day computer chess workshop hosted by the ANU Department of Computer Science. Participation in all these events is free. At this stage the event is planned to be a 6 round swiss event with the games being played at 30m+20s inc. Both the format and time limits can change depending on the needs of the organisers and participants. Programs can either be located on site at the ANU Department of Computer Science or play remotely via a chess server that we will be setting up. What I need at this stage is an indication of interest. A simple reply is all that is required at this point. More deatils will be sent out shortly. Shaun Press Organiser NC3 2000
