Identical computers and programs can still vary in performance if their
resources available at bootup vary significantly. In the tests I have conducted,
a 2% variance in resources equated to a 1% variance n chess speed. Naturally
variances during play conditions also have an impact.
Different program I have tested claim greatly different resources on the
older computer that had tested them on: Fritz 12%, Genius 15%. and Chessmaster
5%
