I would like to suggest 3 options: 1. Post a message here asking for advice on searching for Steve Ham's messages in the archives. 2. Go to the following web page http://www.correspondencechess.com/campbell/ham/ham.htm and find Franklin Campbell's email address at the bottom of the page; Mr Campbell may be able to forward your query to Mr Ham. 3. Consider the following brief summary of the occurrence: The match was established as an experiment, not a competition, to examine the effect of chess engines on correspondence chess play. Being unfamiliar with chess engines, the organizers first set the engines to analyze "best 3 lines", not realizing that this would reduce the engine's time when examining "best one line". When the organizers were advised of this, Mr Ham queried the CCC about the merits of switching to "best one line". As a result of the CCC replies, Mr Ham and the organizers decided to switch to "best one line". This happened probably shortly after the opening phase of the games. Cheers, Mark
