To draw the comparison further with your proposal, you hire a Russian GM for 50 bucks and agree to play a game with him on Barbados, under the swaying palm trees. After he has agreed and signed the contact, you tell him you decided it will be a 12 game tournament and it will be in the middle of the Negev desert, at noon, but he will get $70, in stead of $50. He tells you that's not the agreement, as it is standing clearly in the contract. He should play one game for $50, on Barbados, that was agreed. But you take your pen, scratch away some lines, and change it, saying "here you are, this is the contact, sir. Play on, don't be a sissy." Now he can choose: will he take 50 bucks or not? Our empoverished Russian thinks: "If I am swindled, I can be swindling too". After playing twelve games in a row each resigning after the first move he cashes in and leaves (for a beer, probably -as it's damn hot in the Negev). And you, Fernando, stay behind, and tell all your friends here: "I've been swindled!". Jeroen ;-}
