IMHO,

if a tournament organizer has the right to attract the attention on
his tournament by doing silly things (e.g. inviting a computer to play
in a national championship),
then the chessplayers have the right to protest in a sensational way,
as they think is more appropriate to drag attention. In the end, they
have the right to say their own word on the futire of their profession.

Of course, resigning in 4 moves or playing silly and losing in few more
moves is not really "professional" as simply refusing to play at all,
but why the players should behave better than organizers?

In the end everybody is happy:
- the players get more attention on their protest
- the organizers get more attention on the event (and columns on newspapers)

Then, who should be unhappy?
