It will compile anything the Pro or Enterprise versions will, It is lacking compiler optimizations and some other tools. GCC would compile a faster chess engine than VC++ standard, if your goal was to churn out fast code. IMO it still is garbage, but if you are learning and don't care... It will probably suit you just fine. being that I try to optimize the speed of most of my code, chess engine or not, I will stick with VC++ Enterprise. I guess you could compare standard and pro/enterprise to a turtle and hare? Sean
