With DJGPP version of gcc, you can get maybe approx 200(?) nps extra by using
the right "-O" number in the makefile, I think you can only go up to -O9, but
-O9 has never givem me the fastest.  It looks like I settled on "CFLAGS= -O7
-Wall" the last time I compiled a slightly modified SCP.  But if you know a
better way to optimize with gcc, I'm sure he'd gain more from your advice than
mine.  I very seldom mess around with the thing anymore.
