Go up one level in this thread
a xeon has a larger amount of onboard (processor) memory. xeons also can be used
in quad processor systems. pentiums are limited to single or dual processor
systems, usually called workstations. ibm is selling xeons at 800 mhz in their
systems. but i have seen the bench test of some of these systems, and they are
good at different bench tests and not so good at others. but either way, a dual
or quad system will hit higher kns. the multiplier that i use with the fritzmark
test is, .920 x mhz = kns for single processors. and 1.6 x mhz = kns for dual
processors. i think the quad systems are getting about 1.4. also these xeons
with large amounts of onbord cache are very expensive. there is a lot of
material on the internet if you like to read about multi-threading.
