I remember 13 years ago when the top program Mchess was reaching Master level close to 2200 Elo by USCF and I also remember a statement from Larry Kaufman saying that it will take at least a good 15 years for a P.C. program to reach GM level at the rate of Processors speed doubling every years, at that time the top Processor was a mere 80286 operating at 12 Mhz at the most. I Thought at that time that Kasparov if he was still Champion will defeat very easy a P.C. in game in 30 minutes per side. But now that the time has arrived I realize that any of the top three P.C. Programs with any processor higher than 800 Mhz can beat Kasparov in game in 30 minutes per side. PS: Since piket just recently beat Kasparov in the Grand Prix not to long ago, and Fritz SSS drew Piket at the Dutch Tournamwent, I can almost presume that in game in 60 minutes per side, Fritz SSS or any other top three Programs can beat Kasparov in a mini match of 7 games using the latest Processor.
