I thought I would run this thru crafty, since it is not half-bad at avoiding
such strangleholds most of the time. Here is the output. Comments follow the
output...

comments.
1. black's move 24 was a lemon. After Rg1 crafty has black at -5 and
dropping, probably why Frans resigned. However, Ra7 was essentially a
null-move of sorts... I would hardly say that black can win if he doesn't
play Ra7. Black may be already lost. But that certainly made it easier.
White has a strong attack with the pawn-roller, but things are blocked
up requiring white to sac on h6 to make anything happen.
2. black should have taken steps to prevent this pawn structure (letting
white play f5 was gross and asking for a pawn wedge in the throat.) Again,
I can't say that Crafty would have done better, but it wok tould not have played
Ra7 (NULL) at all.
3. what was with black's 9th move? Bg4 rejected by f3 back to d7? Seems like
a total waste of time.
4. 13. ... Be6 seems bad. Allowing f5. exf4 at least prevents the e4-f5
wedge and keeps some space on the kingside for black.
If fritz is going to play GM players, it has _got_ to learn to stop such
attacks. Or at least put up some resistance to that kind of king-side attack.
If it visits ICC, it will become painfully obvious how easy this is to do,
even in blitz games... GMs recognize such weaknesses and rub your nose in it
over and over and over... If you have a huge kingside weakness hole in the
evaluation, look out...
