I have seen quite a few games now that seem to suggest comps might be up to GM level . But the Fritz performance in the NL2000 really isn't any proof for it IMHO . Van Wely - Fritz , the game before it ; one free win against Bosboom ... , the game from today which also saw the human superior . It seems the humans are able to learn how to play a computer . All data I have seen posted here confirms computers are probably at low 2500 level against humans ; this is really great I think but in no way "clear GM level" . As several pointed out in 10 years this will be a question of history probably but it really seems the computers are not there _yet_ . Look at the Rebel games , look at the Israeli League , look at the Fritz games ; strong it is agreed but it seems to be strong IM or weak GM level , nothing less , nothing more .
