There is no other legal way of saying this >during the game. I agree with you in full. There is also one aspect of this that has been foreseen. The player himself is responsible for his own timeconsumption. Nobody forced him to use up all of the time to be left with only 2 minutes. Maybe he would have overlooked something somewhere had he played faster.
