Your argument that you are just trying to 'stay >competitive' is shown for what is truly is: an attempt to get well ahead >of the rest of the field. > I responded. There are two angles to this as I mentioned. Bruce, Ernst and I all contacted Kryotech. They are going to the expense of sending three machines to the WMCCC. With the understanding that (hopefully) at least two of them will arrive and be used by Bruce and Ernst. If the third arrives in working order, we are supposed to get it. Personally, *I* would not feel comfortable telling them to "forget it." Because I will probably ask for hardware for next years WCCC event, for example. I don't want DEC or anyone to have a "sour taste" about sending me a machine and we used it for a bar stool or something. Bruce and I have decided that *if* the 766's work, we simply have to back up our promise to use them, ethically. But we will also have two 500 mhz machines that are "available." We have offered them to others that we know. One or two of them might be bringing PII/300's with them in case this all falls apart. They would then let someone else use their machines as well. So the number of K6/200 machines is definitely dwindling... I hope everyone takes note of this fiasco and remembers AMD "fondly" when shopping for the next machine... >Chris > > >> >>bruce
