Subject: Rules need to be written on chess computers participating in tournaments

I think rules need to be written with regards to computers participating in
tournaments. There seems to be a lot of hate and discontent in the various
tournaments that they've participated in.

The Dutch championship highlights these problems. The participation of the
comptuer program gives great publicity, but it makes some players unhappy.
What qualifications did Fritz have to participate in the Dutch championship?

FIDE is clearly moving in the direction of not rating tournaments with the
participation of computers. I think this would discourage the invitation of
computer programs to tournaments. In view of all the problems that occurred, I
think the solution is rather drastic, but someone has to offer a better solution
in order to allow computer participation (i.e. clearly established rules to
avoid problems with computers).
Baldo.
