The 'sceleton' of my second chess playing program is now ready. I have not yet an engine. I have made graphics and clocks and menus and some _openings_. I chose a book of several opening lines. Do you others use lines or are your books built of 'possible' moves in certain position? Also my book has lines that are 'good_for_white' and 'good_for_black.' These traps are used if a player makes mistakes in opening. Have you used these? Do you think it's useful to have them in my program? All these lines in my program are strings. E.g. 'e2e4e7e5g1f3b8c6f1b5a7a6...' (ordinary opening line), 'g2g4e7e5f2f4d8h4' (A _very _simple_ 'good_for_black' line) I'd like to have more opening lines and traps. Can you post me some? Or tell me a good website to find openings? (In a format like above or something which is not very hard to change to it.) Also any suggestions of what to read first before making my engine (books, websites, FAQs) would be useful to me. Program will be freeware like my first one. Jari
