I can only hope that the eventual winner will be someone who had guts enough to face Fritz win or lose. I don't believe Fritz should be in the tournament but since it is there it should be played as just another opponent. In my opinion, anyone who does not play it is gutless and not deserving of a national championship anyway. This is not a Swiss event so everyone is required to face the computer. It is simply an extra round of chess to play. If you can not handle this you should not be there. This "Protest" rings hollow to me. A real "Protest" would have been to refuse to play at all.
