I've had some success against moderately skilled players, but some guys on ICC are tough. You can use mobility, look at the pawn structure, open files, etc. But if you really try to avoid it at all costs, you end up overpowering other positional factors, and strange things happen. People start beating you for other reasons. Then, of course, you have to know if you're playing a computer or a human. Computers will typically kill me if I bump up the anti-lock stuff. So, I haven't had great luck, but perhaps others have. Will
