Mark, That is what makes the endeavor of computer chess interesting. Small improvements are being made and it will probably be within our lifetimes that a PC chess champion will emerge. The "PC" will not be your father's computer and the memory will be at least one hundred times our biggest available today. Not too many of us are even close in strength to the Dutch players and so todays computer chess programs are good enough for us. It's like the practice of turbo-charging a gasoline engine--who needs it? Having a chess program that beats the best human player is a great ego booster for us. Tim Frohlick
