I think yes, a reasonable compromise idea. It would be good if there would
compete two groups as you say (not only one player each), i.e. with the top
eight players from each group. I'm afraid that such an event would more or less
be an invitation tournament, because obviously it's not possible to reach a
common consent about the traditional World Chess Championship nowadays (for the
human side, the top 8 players of the elo rating list could be qualified).

But if this can be managed, we could have the following titles:

a) human champion    (from the competition among human players)
b) computer champion (from the competition among computer chess systems)
c) champion of the planet (winner of the human-comp event)

But I would prefer to have computers integrated at all levels, having them
included in the various qualifying processes. This seems more natural to me.
