I spent Sunday driving back to England trying to work out their motivation. you pick up various intuitions whilst here, and they don't add up. My conclusion: they 'sell' the event to a sponsor(s). The event takes place. That's it. Because of the disregard for spectators and the lack of communications, and the out-of-dateness of their web-site reporting incorrect information, and all the other incompetences; you have to assume that this is about the sponsorship money and not about computer chess publicity or the actual event itself. Sorry. I can't reach any other conclusion. Chris Whittington >No wonder strong programs >are >refusing to play.
