Any idea how the "top 16" were chosen?  Processor clock speed?
Reputation?  Past performance of previous versions?  Most expensive
prototype generally available experimental alpha?

I'd say the accelerated pairings might have been an equalizer of sorts.
DarkThought, for instance, got to meet some tough opposition early on.
I just hope we still get Diep vs. Crafty at some point.  ;-)
