If not, then the program might be forced to make a move calculated with a lot fewer plies due to time trouble. This is more likely, since the program with time trouble obviously doesn't ponder very well :o). All this speculation depends on how you implement ponder. If all calculation revolves around a single move, then it isn't effective in my opinion, but I'm not an expert, just a wonderer. Best wishes... Mogens
