New twist on the beer scandal: Still no beer on the Tueschen scandal - says Thorsten Stepan says only beer per person for wins against alphas - not one beer for each winning game. Thorsten is very disapointed :) Ananse says he has found and fixed a bug in his program, and there is a rumour that he will win tomorrow against ISichess. The ischess programmer is very worried and now tonight preparing against Ananse - all according to Thorsten. And on the AMD machines: AMD replaced 15 200's with 233's. But the technician came too late and was unable to do it accurately because of some voltage problems. For this reason some machines became too hot or whatever and crashed and we assumed that the crash of Goliath in the game against Mchess was caused by this hardware failure, and operator said he tried the same position on another machine and it worked. Goliath couldn't be fixed after three hours (apparently the operator was not very used to the program, and it is difficult to detect whether it was a hardware or software failure; so it was adjudicated a loss. It is said that the position runs on another AMD machine. Junior also had problems with his machine and has now upgraded to a new P2 300, starting with his game with CSTal tomorrow. Thorsten says all the people are in a good mood at the moment, they don't let themselves be destroyed by the technical problem. Also Franz Morsch is not happy with his opening today - it was some of repetition with a knight on c6-a5 repeating. Apparently the program came with a little minus out of book, so Fritz repeated, this despite wanting and expecting to win against Anmon. Big opening books don't always help. >Chris Whittington
