During the AUTO232 testing of the new breed of Chessbase engines, I have noticed that they like to offer draws when eval hits (0.00) during the end game, which is fine. However, what I am seeing his the draw being offered during the Chessbase engine's turn, and it failing to move afterwards. If I am by the computer to notice such a thing, I can easily remedy this by placing the SPACEBAR, which forces the move. However, during long test sets of AUTO232 matches, this is less than acceptable. An example of this is 50 games at 5 5 played between ChessTiger 12.0e and DeepJunior. ChessTiger showed 9 games with an UNKNOWN result (under that respective category.) These same 9 games were added to the number of DRAW games on DeepJunior's tally sheet. After more investigation, I then found this problem. The Chessbase engine offers a draw during its turn and then allows all its time to run out waiting for an answer, rather than continuing to play the game. I cannot find an option in the GUI to keep this from happening. Also, this does not seem to be a problem with the older breed of engines using their respective GUI (e.g. Hiarcs 7.32 & Fritz 5.32.) Anyone have any ideas? -elc.
