XML-formatted 'languages' for information exchange certainly seem a quantum step
forward. The conjunction of SGML and HTML ideas has to be a good thing and
seems to have lots of support.
... and you can create the model-layers above with UML, the OMG-agreed output of
the OO community.
The key issue is what 'domain' should be modelled, how and by whom ... and how
is some sort of concensus agreed. Should the XML be for:
.pgn or
chess or
board games or
a more general class of games?
Without some vision on the domains (which give rise to the XML-languages) to be
modelled, we will finish up with a new 'Tower of Babel' problem which is bigger
than it needs to be.
