I don't know why not, but >that seems to be clear fact, against any hardware of then. I remember that I read here that the latest cray blitz is clearly better than crafty(results about 90% inspite of the fact that crafty used more than one processor) and I know from the ssdf list that crafty(1 proccesor) is not clearly worse than Hiarcs at tournament time control. I also remember that Hyatt claimed that Deep thought was better than Cray blitz. If I combine all this results it seems that Deep thought is clearly better than Hiarcs and Deep thought started to play before 1990. I do not know if everything here is correct. Possible mistakes: 1)The games that cray blitz played against Crafty are blitz games and it is possible that cray blitz was worse at tournament time control games. 2)It is possible that the latest cray blitz is clearly better than deep thought(cray blitz with no bugs lost one game against Deep thought but it is possible that cray blitz was unlucky) > Even much later than 1990 probably. > No one can even prove that deep blue of 1996 was really better. Fritz 3 was a >little baby on about 200mhz compared to hiarcs now on 450mhz., even if you say >that it's only public game in which it beat deep blue was only a fluke. >S.Taylor Fritz3 was on pentium90 when it won deep thought and not on pentium200 but even Fritz3 on p90 can probably do better than less than 10% against Hiarcs7 on 450 Mhz I believe that deep blue of 1996(lost 4:2 against kasparov) was better than Hiarcs. I do not believe that hiarcs7.32 could get 2 out of 6 against kasparov. Deep blue of 1996 had a big hardware advantage and they should do something really wrong in order to be worse than hiarcs. Uri
