Unfortunately, the same problem appears in engines of Fritz family also. Here is
an example:
1. Start a new engine match. White: Fritz 6 or 6a, Black: Fritz 5.32
2. Pushing "Openings DB" button, open Fritz6.cbh from Fritz 6 CD.
3. In the box of "Number of games", there is a nonsense number, -15560. (What
does it mean?, I don't know.)
4. Give a reasonable number, e. g. 30.
5. Select a Blitz mode, e. g. 1' (the status of "Permanent brain" is not
important.)
After 6 game, (about 4-5 minutes on my PC, Pentium II 500), this mesaage appears
on a splash dialog box: Engine-illegal move: a1-a1 Fritz 5.32
please retry. After OK, engine match spoils.
In my opinion this is a bug of Fritz 6 GUI. In the log file of the engine on the
dialog box, everything is normal. I meet this error in Junior 6 also. It uses
the same GUI.
Best regards.
