I would guess that both programs probably were searching to about 9 plies.  I
am not in my office, but I will try to look thru my old paper logs to see if I
can find that game (if I printed it out).  I have some old CB games (IE I have
the output for the 1986 wccc event in its entirety so I can give you variations
and scores and times there).

CB and HiTech were searching about the same depth in 1985, roughly.  We were
doing about 100K nodes per sec, they were doing maybe 160K.
