Hi Gerrit :-) ,

it seems at frank's compi it will always "beep " ; I don't have the slightest
idea why ...

"Warning sounds" are IMO always useful as they try to deal with the unusual
cases or unexpected errors when you have a _real_ problem ; turning this off
will only lead you to experience serious errors later and doesn't make much
sense to me .
