You can download the demo version of the program: the engine is 100% functioning, it is only without an opening book (also middlegame and endgfame books are missing). With this demo, you can play from the (usual) beginning position, with no book, or from a given opening position. There is not a stright way to set up a position to start from. To play a game from an opening position you like, open any game (e.g. search for an eco code you know) from a database, search for the position, set up the engine option so that the engine is going to play the side you want to give to it, also set the time control. Than simply from the board window ask the engine to analyse the position, it will actually start to play from that position. for the demo look at http://www.chessacademy.com or at pitt By the way the demo is also nice as a pgn reader. ciao Franz regsards Franz
