But the quality of the movie is undoubted I think; just remember the scene where the neanderthal throws the bone in the air, and it turns into a space ship of the same shape to start the main story. I could cry whenever I see this scene... it's a very impressive, and meaningful, way I think to show what human intelligence and creativity could achieve. It puts the first moments of the idea of using a tool, and an example of a very advanced modern technology together in a few seconds on the screen. If somebody should see this movie for the first time (assuming he doesn't know the details), he couldn't tell if it's from 1968, 1978 or even 1988.
