I have had similiar experience with Junior in my matches in Yahoo awhile back.
I even lost a game due to this peculiar behavior. For awhile I was certain that
maybe it was due to a file being corrupted, but similar complaints from others
and now your observation suggests that there is a basic flaw somewhere in
Junior.

And on top of it all, it's not that strong. I don't understand how it got to be
number one in the SDDF, or how it continues to be number 2. I own the major
programs, with the exception of Shredder4 (and only then, because I refused to
be coerced into spending $100 for it-notwithstanding the fact that several
"weak" engines are thrown into the mix[ Genius; Nimzo2000]),and in my personal
opinion, based on hundreds of games at Yahoo, POGO and MSN, Junior is not as
strong as my Chess Tiger (amazing program), Fritz6a, or Nimzo 732.

In addition, Junior has this annoying habit of "hesitating" when you force a
move by hitting the spacebar. This makes it totally worthless in blitz chess.
In blitz, Hiarcs 732 continues to rule.
