I don't think so but this is really hard to say as I don't know enough about the
American chess community .

I personally love CM6000 as I got it for free by winning an online fun chess
tournament ; I didn't think the price was serious and really was delighted when
I found it in my post some 12 weeks later :-) .

CM is one of the few programs I love to play against for myself as I think
playing against the created "human" personalities is very much fun .

When it is about engine tweaking done by users I have serious doubts . Nice
example is the REBEL contest where actually nothing impressive for real games
was found by the testing community at all when reducing chessknowledge would
have been very effective ( Century1.0=>1.2 ) ; I understand though why this
wasn't discovered.

CM seems to be not overly tuned for strength at all , so this is maybe the
reason users "found something" . I would be very surprised if the same thing was
possible with Shredder !

When it is about chess knowledge : how come you think Shredder is superior to CM
here ? They seem to be quite close to me in knowledge only the knowledge is in
different areas of the game .

As you love tuning parameters in chessprograms ; the Shredder changeable
parameters seem to be highly influenced by the Genius ones ; so Genius would be
another test area for you .

And as mentioned above Rebel Century really is a challenge for you ;-)

Or you could try amateur programs . "The Crazy Bishop" has tons of parameters
and "gromit2.20 " did too , although the last one is not in development anymore
.
