Subject: Paris Standings after Round 9 Part II

Madame Estelle Giron(?) , who is in the organizing committee, became
No. 13 in the row of those who was downfolded by her chair. So not
only newbies are in danger.

Graham Douglas, faithful poster in rgcc, appeared in the tournament
hall as a spectator to get a free beer from Bruce Moreland, but Bruce
had gone already back to his hotel for preparations ( round 10 vs
Hydra, Ferret with Black ).
The Austrian team ( behind Hydra ) was not in the analyzing chamber.
I heard them still laughing and joking in the tournament hall through
the phone: Hydra has surpassed its "path of thirst" ( in German:
Durststrecke ), although the win against Tiger was a bit lucky
according to Thorsten ( loud Austrian noise in the background when he
tried to explain this to me ).

Most operators/programmers are rather exhausted, but almost all enjoy
the event. Ananse's Walter Bannerman is making program changes for
tomorrow.

Probably there will be n o award for the most beautiful game of
the WMCCC. ( In my opinion Virtual's win against Eugen in round 8
would have been a serious contender. Thorsten said that Shredder's
winning attack today was also nice. Just, when the french TV team
started
their taping, Shredder ringed in its final attack with f4-f5.
Many thanks to Thorsten for all the details. Ingo Althoefer.
