ICC is an obvious choice for obvious reasons, so I will offer a less obvious choice that I "discovered" recently: http://www.worldchessnetwork.com/English/welcome.php3 I like this site for a couple of reasons. The interface is very nice, though not as nimble as Blitzin, it does have feature absent in Blitzin I like very much. You can click on the destination square and if there is only one piece that can legally go there, the move will be played without having to indicate the square of departure. This feature must be enabled. It also has Blitzins smartmove. The board and pieces are also quite excellent to look at. There is something called Banter chess that takes place frequently throughout the day. This is where 2 strong players play a chess game and comment on their own thinking as they play. They don't see see each others comments. Very interesting and instructive to watch. Sometimes quite funny. When the game ends, you can watch the players go over the game and again listen to their comments. I like Banter chess _very_ much and it alone is reason enough to visit the site frequently. GM Larry Christiansen is a frequent participant in Banter chess. An excellent player and commentator. One of my favorite annotators. They also have a lecture each day at 8pm Eastern. GM Fedorowicz is a frequent lecturer there. I haven't caught it yet, but it should be excellent too. I don't know for sure, but I don't think there are any computer accounts. Probably the interface is an obstacle and/or they are disallowed. I have only been going there for a couple of days, but so far I am impressed by this site. It's FREE.
