I usually asked Bruce questions and you jumped into the discussion. Not to put
too fine a point on it, but I didn't consider your input useful.

After I had developed most of my first chess program, I asked to see a certain
part of Crafty. You said sure, download the source code, it's freely available.
I was startled and asked if you really meant that anybody could download your
source code. You said yes, it was a decision that you had recently made, and
that you hadn't told anybody else that it was available yet.

Then I told Bruce that Crafty was open source. He had a very hard time believing
me and said that I should definitely quadruple-check it with you before I gave
the ftp address to anyone.

So Crafty may have been freely available before Stobor was around, but if it
was, it was an extremely well-kept secret.
