Testing using the same opening from both sides of the board while that may be fine, with the endless amount of openings and opening variations it will make little difference IMHO than just letting them play from book. And since my tourney had 11 rounds you in effect have matches of 11 games. I think some argument can be made for a selected group of openings such as Nunn1 or 2 but that is only as these are known positions. Overall I think the best program will win most of the time. Take as example most of my tourneys at my website Fritz 6 wins almost all. I think that is simply because it is the best overall. Thanks.
