Perhaps, but I recall reading that they had lined up quite a bit of sponsorship
to build CK, sponsorship lined up on the strength of Kasparov's name.
Presumably this sponsorship provides the advertising on the site. I question
whether this revenue model will work, but the big question I have is how they
expect any serious player draw without a quality playing client and features
like ICC (or FICS). Impossible to become the premiere chess site that way, IMO.
A web interface with ad banners *during* play is just a joke. Who is going to
look or click on an ad in the middle of a game?? I would rather pay not to see
this.
