One thing tongue in cheek, Hristo:

Crafty *was* one of the best prgs in Paris --- hardware defined.
But unfortunately the chess knowledge was not yet sufficient for a real
Wch.

This is not the moment to be sad. If you take all the time Mr. Hyatt had
to work for the Deep Blue team here on the net, then you will probably
be more careful with your smileys.

For me Bob did a grat job in relation to near zero time spent on the
machine.  That's the same as if you wanted to fight a real match against
me. Me the pro and you ----    :)

But for the rest I agree with you. If you watch these sites carefully
for the next days you will see, correction, you will NOT see many of
those who wrote a lot of messages in the weeks before. In sciento this
is called tolerance of frustration, a spooky thing which does influence
all of us from time to time.
