I really don't think that there is any chance of missing the win. The game is totally lost here. However, it was a wrong decision by the tournament director to allow the resignation (Amir's complaint to play on was justified). Firstly it was an important game on the top boards in the penultimate round that directly influenced the tournament result. Secondly, if the Virtual pawn could be traded (possible, but very stupid for Virtual to allow) then it would be a draw. So against an idiot, or a program without the necessary knowledge, this could have become a draw - therefore, as a strong tournament influence at a late stage it should have been forced to play on. I agree with the Junior complaint, and think that the original decision to allow the resignation by the tournament director was wrong. Thorsten was right to have requested to resign in the first place, because he knows Virtual and knew there was no way that in practice the draw was attainable. Besides we wanted to go and eat :) It was somethign of a drag however to have to play it out later that evening and miss out on getting some ealier food. Also by that time van den Herik was playing so safe, that the game went on being played even with KP v K and CSTal showing -24.00 Chris Whittington > >Ingo Althoefer.
