I am interested to know if Steve Ham could win Fritz6a by 14.Nb1 Bxh6 15.Qxh6 Re8 16.Ng3 with the idea Nf8 17.g5 N6d7 18.Nf5 gxf5 19.exf5 Here is the relevant position(before 14.Nb1): [D]r1bq1rk1/3n1pbp/p1pp1npB/4p3/1pPPP1P1/2N2P2/PP1QN3/2KR1B1R w - - 0 1 It seems that a lot of programs do not understand what is going on. Hiarcs7.32 needs almost 9 minutes to find 17.Nf5 and crafty17.10 could not find Nf5 in more than 10 minutes and evaluated the position as an advantage for black. Chessmaster6000(ss=10) can see Nf5 in 9 seconds but needs more time to see that 18...gxf5 19.exf5 Nc5 is losing. If I give it the position after 16.Ng3 it can see the problem with this line after 11 minutes and 21 seconds and wants to sacrifice a piece by 16...Nf8 17.g5 exd4 and after more time it gives the stupid line: 16...b3 17.axb3 Nf8 18.g5 N6d7 19.Nf5 gxf5 20.exf5 Nc5 and does not change its mind in the first few hours(I stopped it after a few hours). When I give it the position after 20...Nc5 in this line it can see in less than a minute that 21.f6 is mate in 16 Uri
