There isn't a proper solution unless you want to not cut off based upon hash
table values.
Values anywhere in the tree can be influenced by 3x repetitions elsewhere in the
tree.
I wish everything worked perfectly, but I don't think I'd call this a hack. The
chance of failure is introduced, but much more often you get a success.
