Hit the nail on the head.  The entire function of the list is to track the
strength of new engines without having to cower in the shadow of Crafty.

A search through the archives will decribe the purpose of the list in exquisite
detail.

At some point, the other programs may catch up and they may wish to include
crafty.  SOS is another that I don't see included, and it has bulging biceps as
well.
