Hi, > Two interesting games, IMHO. They were nice battles, yes ;) > The first one is an even fight, but at the end, Faile outsearched Averno. > In the second game, both programs leave their books very soon. Averno has >sacrificed a pawn from his book, and evaluates the position close to zero all >the time, due to white weaknesses. Finally, he can prove that black position is >better with a straight attack. I am not so sure that the black position is any better.. Fritz is evaluating White as better for most of the game, and even in the later stages, it takes Fritz a fairly length search before the search goes from +/= to = .. however, 35. Bg2 was a blunder on Faile's behalf :P I think that if Faile had been able to consolidate the k-side position (possibly trading off some of the heavies would have helped a lot), it likely would have reached a won endgame position - I don't think either program truly understood the position (I don't think Fritz did either :P) > Good luck, Adrien, with your program. It's good to have another interesting >opponent on the court. Heh .. Faile isn't exactly a new program .. but 1.4 has been the first public release for a very long time :P Good luck to you as well with Averno :) Regards, Adrien.
