Subject: (on topic) My "mini-me" tourny !!

Author: pavel

Date: 10:35:21 06/29/00

Hi guys,
I am half way done with my winboard tourny "mini-me" ;). my target is to
make each program play each other atleast 100 times, though its not totally half
way....... but still I have intented to post it now since i wont be able to
update it for some time as I will be busy from this week.
here is the result for those who cares.........

But first the game condition :-

CPU= Pentium II 600 mzh  (single cpu)ram 64mb
Opening Book= default books by the authors, only amy used the book from Franks
page, and also Yace used the book by Dann Corbit.Hash size= Default hash size by
the authors.Tb= no tb :(
Time control= 15 min per side.
Rating list= calculated by Elostat, default rating for all program was set to
2200, minimum numbers of games to calculate ratng was 0!!
tournament condition= All program plays each other 2 games. one white one black.
Names= i changed the names of the programs to make it easier, I named little
goliath 2.7, LG, and so on........ also the programs are updated to the latest
one as soon as possible during the tourny. oh one more thing all the games
against yace was played as ponder=off since it doesnt support ponder....now i
wouldnt be that mean against the "best" new winboard engine around ;0

Program Elo + - Games Score Av.Op. Draws

  1 crafty : 2245 71 74 80 57.5 % 2192 17.5 %
  2 anmon : 2206 74 74 73 50.0 % 2206 20.5 %
  3 yace : 2201 99 81 50 52.0 % 2187 24.0 %
  4 lg : 2197 77 90 60 48.3 % 2208 20.0 %
  5 tcb : 2168 107 106 41 45.1 % 2202 12.2 %
  6 amy : 2164 112 112 37 44.6 % 2201 13.5 %
  7 sos : 2136 144 157 19 39.5 % 2211 26.3 %

I know I played a bit too much games with crafty, anmon and lg comparing to the
other programs. and sos has been just added to the tourny ( i still wish it had
less hash size though). I have removed comet and exchess from the tourny
....reason?? comet was playing worse than I was , hehe "just kidding" but it was
really playing very bad games, and I felt exchess doesnt belong to this group.

well I guess thats about it!! any information missing? let me know.
The games are available upon request, but since my current e-mail account is not
working for "technicall reasons" i have to send it through my hotmail account
which is Pavelmahamood@hotmail.com . Assuming no one cares.. but in case if you
care....

now some off topic part ( nothing to do with the tourny so you dont have to read
it if you dont want), few days ago I posted something about asking referance to
C++ books, thanks to those who helped me with referances ;) I really appreciate
it ( one day if I come up with my own chess program I will make sure you guys
get first hand copies;), to the moderators, sorry if it was a bit too "off
topic" but IMHO in this forum there are way more "off topic" posts than that
(the one with topic "pentium 4" and also "1ghz athlon") and trools those are
easily let go...... anyways I needed some innocent first hand information from
the 'experienced" programers around here. I have no complains against the
moderators, but recently they seem to be acting "weird". I suggest the
moderators should relax and do what their job is instead of showing their
"biceps" ;)

enjoy..........

Pavel ;)
