I know of evaluation Itanium machines that are I wouldn't say they're dirt cheap. A dual Celeron is pretty cheap. But that's a fluke; Intel never thought people would figure out how to run Celerons MP. If you're not talking about Celerons, then a reasonably current MP machine is several hundred dollars more expensive than a single processor computer. >not SMP.
