The problem is in fact _before_ you started with the books :-) The "service pack " and the " new book " are two different things ; you need to install the "service pack " to be able to install the new book I think . The update is at http://www.chessbase.com/Support/index.htm and is called Hiarcs7.32 ( Oct 99 , 1,5 MB ) ; this is the "service pack" ; download it to any place on your computer , doubleclick on it and then it will install . After that you should try the Alt-Shift-G with your new book ( empty ) and the hiarcs.hbk copied to C:\ again . If this doesn't work , just ask again :-) pete
