If I summarize correctly the impressions posted here about WMCCC 15th:
1/ Titus was unable to do anything correctly
2/ Paris is the worst place in the world because
a/ every step you hit a pile of shit
b/ hotels ** are awful and *** rabbit hutchy
c/ food is tremendously expensive
d/ it's almost impossible to drive there
3/ Please add your own complaint here...
I am not at all related to Titus, but I am a member of ICCA.
I totally disagree with these impressions.
1/ Titus did it's best to run a very nice event. If some obvious
problems
occured (no Internet connection, drinks,etc...) this is in my opinion
entirely the fault of the ICCA, who run this event every year and
should have included all practical details in the contract. It is naive
and stupid to think that local organisers can think to everything
and solve all mistakes in the minute.
Moreover Titus and SBF organised very nice parties, and please remind me
the last time you have eaten food prepared by a 3-star Michelin chef
in previous WMCCC...
2/ a/ Look where you put your feet :) I never have this problem.
b/ Here is another thing that ICCA should have told to Titus: don't
get hotel addresses from the phone book, but from a good tourist guide
(Michelin again :) for instance). I often travel in France or elsewhere
and never trust local organisers. I always checks the accomodation
myself. Moreover for $50 in Paris it's clear you can't have much but at
least acceptable. For $70 it can be very nice I think.
c/ Not true. I had very pleasant lunch and dinners at reasonable
prices. I several times tried to invite people from abroad to join me
and got the answer: we prefer fast food or steak, etc...If you choose
that food in Paris you are not at all allowed to complain...
d/ It is crazy to drive in Paris. I came from Lyon by train
with my DEC Alpha. A lot of people living in Paris even don't have
a car. The public transportation system is very good and much faster.
The RER goes directly inside Roissy Charles de Gaule airport so why
use a car ?
Instead of continuously complaining why not try to help the ICCA make
the next event better by buiding a list of necessary practical details
to
furnish to the next organisers. Moreover if you continue to complain
nobody will be candidate for the next event.
